Arellano University

Arellano University (AU) is a private, coeducational, non-sectarian university located in Manila, Philippines. It was founded in 1938 by Florentino Cayco Sr., the first Undersecretary of Public Education of the Philippines, originally as a law school. The university is named after Cayetano Arellano, the first Chief Justice of the Supreme Court of the Philippines. Arellano University operates seven campuses across the Greater Manila Area, with its main campus located in Sampaloc, Manila.

AU temporarily closed during World War II, reopened in 1945, and was renamed Arellano College. In 1946, Cayco became the president and expanded the college into a comprehensive university offering courses in business, diplomacy, and arts and sciences. In 1947, the college was granted university status and renamed Arellano University.

AU established a College of Nursing and a College of Law in 1954, with the latter being successfully transferred to the Arellano Law Foundation for administration in 1979, but it remained as one of the university's constituent colleges. In 2015, the university collaborated with Ayala Education to launch the LINC@Arellano Junior College program as an early implementation of the Philippines' K-12 educational system. Subsequently, it fully integrated the K-12 curriculum, offering high school courses.

The university is composed of five academic clusters, encompassing undergraduate and graduate education. The Joint Medical Services and the College of Business and Technology consist of clusters formed by one or more colleges, schools, or institutes. Arellano University also has its own elementary and high school departments.

The Law School of Arellano University is one of the oldest law schools in the Philippines, with its alumni playing significant roles in the country's political history. The College of Education, the university's teacher training school, provides international education opportunities to its students through collaboration with the Hailida International Kindergarten School in Shenzhen, China. The College of Joint Medical Services includes five schools and a Midwifery Diploma program. The College of Business and Technology is comprised of the School of Accountancy, School of Computer Science, School of Business and Administration, School of Hotel and Tourism Management, etc. The College of Criminal Justice Education offers a four-year Bachelor's degree program in Criminology.

Arellano University has multiple academic partners, including Arizona State University, Alderson Broaddus University, Edith Cowan University, etc. These partnerships foster cooperation in teaching, research, joint learning programs, staff and student exchanges, professional accreditation, and continuing education.
